The
Problem

The HPS website had grown into a vast archive of thousands of pages, many of which linked to external PDFs and outdated systems. The information was valuable, but the website’s design was:

  • Visually outdated and difficult to navigate
  • Overwhelming for new visitors
  • Unfriendly to mobile and assistive technologies
  • Lacking a clear structure for different audiences (members, students, educators)

Even frequent users struggled to find resources or complete simple tasks like renewing a membership or locating event info.

The
Solution

Our goal was to modernize the visual design and completely rethink how content is grouped, discovered and used. We focused on:

  • Simplifying navigation and menus
  • Creating flexible screen templates for dense content
  • Improving accessibility across devices
  • Designing entry points for different user types (members, students and educators)

We built a modular system that HPS can scale in the future, while making sure current users don’t get lost.

A New Experience

Before design,
we built a system

With thousands of pages to account for, we didn’t start with visuals — we started with structure.

Modular wireframes helped us organize complexity, map user paths, and plan for everything from PDFs to tools to external links.
